Fox Valley and Stateline Chapters of the Society of Human Resource Professionals (SHRM) will host a half-day presentation “Health Care Reform and Employment Law: What You Don’t Know WILL Hurt You.  How To Avoid New Landmines and Plan Beyond Compliance.”  HR Professionals and business leaders are invited to join us as our panel of experts presents overviews of current Federal and Illinois legislation, case law developments, and obligations required by employers in the areas of health care reform, labor law, and employment law (including Immigration and Wage and Hour law).  Our speakers will also inform us of impacts and timelines for health care reform, as well as proactive approaches, such as creatively designing cost-efficient benefit plans.   The program is pending approval for 3 recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.

Our distinguished speakers include Jeffrey Risch, Rebecca Dobbs, and Jim Vidmich.  Jeffrey Risch serves as Chair of SmithAmundsen’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, headquartered in Chicago.  A seasoned litigator, Jeffrey has represented employers in local, state, and federal courts and administrative agencies throughout the U.S.  Rebecca Dobbs, an Associate of SmithAmundsen in St. Charles, focuses her practice on employee benefit compliance, administration, and litigation.  Rebecca, also counsels and represents employers in matters arising under federal and state employment laws.  Jim Vidmich is Managing Partner of the Benefits Division of Better Business Planning, a fifteen year employee benefits brokerage and consulting group in Itasca.  Jim, a certified Chartered Life Underwriter, has extensive experience in the benefits industry.
